Paul Malliate

Paul was born on the island of Mauritius and immigrated to Australia with his parents at the age of 7. He is married with two adult sons and two grandsons – and he currently lives in Sydney, NSW.
Paul has travelled extensively (visiting over 110 countries) and has worked in various parts of the world, primarily in Asia. He is extremely passionate about the objectives/mission of Lifeline International – particularly with regard to the sharing of global best practices. In 2000, Paul established a local suicide prevention group and was subsequently recognised for his efforts, with the award of the Prime Minister’s centenary medal.
Paul is a qualified lawyer and accountant (CPA), and he also holds an MBA with a major in international business. He has over 40 years of business experience, including 25 years leading and managing law firms. He is a life member of the Law Council of Australia and former chair of the Law Asia Management Group. He also spent 10 years on the Board of the United Nations Association of Australia and was recently awarded life membership status.
Prior to his retirement, Paul was the National Managing Partner and subsequently the Asia Pacific Executive Officer for Baker & McKenzie, a leading global law firm with over 70 offices in 35 countries.
