BusinessThink Podcast – our CEO shares how tech can support employee mental health
LifeLine International CEO Thilini Perera spoke to Nick Wailes from UNSW about the applications and ethical implications of using digital technologies to promote positive mental health in workplaces.
Technology not only allows for opportunities to provide crisis support in more ways to more people across the world, it also present opportunities to enhance suicide prevention and identify when people are in crisis and in need of support.
“I think it’s a very interesting time (particularly following COVID) that we are living in. We can actually use technology in a way that we haven’t before, across the world, to ensure that more people can access help,” Ms Perera says.
“When someone contacts us, they’re looking for human connection; they’re looking for empathy and care. I don’t think you can ever replace that, but we certainly need to turn our minds to technology and innovation to see how we can enhance what we do in that human connection space.”
