Mary was named Senior Tasmanian of the Year in 2011 for her work with LifeLine and the award for Outstanding Volunteer of the Year in LifeLine Australia, carries her name.

Having worked as a midwife and child health nurse for 48 years, Mary felt she needed more counselling skills. She joined LifeLine in 1987 as a crisis support worker, a role she filled for 10 years.  Mary became President for six years, then served on the national Board for 14 years, and was the Australian representative for LifeLine International for nine years. In this role provided training and advice to a number of Pacific countries to help them establish their own telephone counselling services.

Now retired after a long, enjoyable career in Nursing and counselling, Mary has many interests and takes pleasure in the continued development of LifeLine International.
