Taiwan Lifeline and Lifeline Malaysia Collaborate for Volunteer Training
In a wonderful example of collaboration within the LifeLine International network, Taiwan Lifeline and Lifeline Association Malaysia have partnered to support their volunteer supervisory training. In early November, volunteers from Lifeline Malaysia joined those of Taiwan Lifeline on Taiwan’s National Volunteer Supervisor Advanced Training, welcoming over 40 volunteers from across the two countries. This partnership between Members, strengthens the bonds of the network but also empowers and equips their volunteers to better serve those in crisis.
Volunteers will continue with the Essential Supervisory Course, where Malaysian volunteers will join 22 Lifeline centres across Taiwan—online and free of charge. Participants will gain new skills and a certification from LifeLine Taiwan, fostering capacity building and a deeper connection between these neighbour organisations.
See Soon Eng of Lifeline Malaysia says, “I was honored to attend the opening ceremony with Taiwan Lifeline National President, Mr. Chen Zongsheng, and Vice President, Mr. Xu Wende, as we welcomed the participants and reaffirmed our shared commitment to Lifeline’s mission.”
In September, Lifeline Malaysia also commemorated World Suicide Prevention Day by hosting impactful events such as;
- Art Therapy Workshops in partnership with the National Art Gallery in Kuala Lumpur
- Parent-Child Camp
- Self-Discovery Workshop
- Mental Health Care Support Training.
These events reached hundreds of youth, adults, and families, with some receiving national media coverage. We’re thrilled to see the positive ripple effect of these efforts.
Lifeline Malaysia is also pleased to share that Kek Lay Wah, their Counselling Supervisory Group Leader, was honoured at The Icon Awards, given by Lembaga Kaunselor Malaysia (LKM), the Malaysian Board of Counsellors (LKM), a government authority under the Ministry. The award recognises over 15 years of dedication to the field and is a prestigious recognition highlighting her tireless contributions to mental health support.
Congratulations to Lifeline Malaysia, Taiwan Lifeline and Kek Lay Wah. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of those in crisis, every day.
