Befrienders Kenya, a charitable organisation dedicated to suicide prevention and mental health support, has joined the LifeLine International network. This partnership will support their work reducing stigma surrounding mental health, expanding awareness of suicide prevention and improving service accessibility. They also look forward to building capacity through knowledge sharing with international partners.

Mental health challenges in Kenya are complicated by the stigma that prevents survivors and bereaved families from seeking help, limited understanding of mental health issues in communities, barriers to accessing mental health services and fear and vulnerability surrounding mental health discussions. Understanding these local challenges places Befrienders Kenya in a unique place to support their communities.

Befrienders Kenya offers comprehensive support through multiple channels:

  • Phone call support
  • SMS services
  • Email counseling
  • Face-to-face sessions
  • Social media platform support

These services ensure that individuals who might otherwise lack access to mental health support can receive the help they need, regardless of their financial situation. Through these efforts, Befrienders Kenya continues their commitment to creating a more understanding, supportive, and mentally healthy society where individuals feel empowered to seek help when needed.

As a member of the LifeLine International network, Befrienders Kenya is looking forward to enhancing their impact through international collaboration and knowledge exchange with global partners.
