What we do

Samoa Victim Support Group (SVSG) a proactive non-governmental organisation, established in 2005 with a mission to provide integrated, personalised and professional services for victims of crime.

Initially set up to care, support, and help victims of sexual crimes, SVSG saw after the first few cases it handled that other victims also sought to get help. As such, work was extended to embrace survivors of all forms of violence. SVSG seeks to ensure that victims of domestic violence, sexual abuse, and other forms of violence are well-supported, safe, and empowered to restore control over their lives. SVSG believes that greater awareness of human rights will provide civil society with the knowledge and tools to ensure these rights are upheld. SVSG is the only refuge in all of Samoa, as demand for shelter services from women and children grow.

SVSG’s Membership of LifeLine International relates to their operations of their crisis line; a 24 hour, toll-free Help Line. SVSG caseworkers provide counselling and referral services via phone for callers confronting trauma, suicide, stress and and crisis support.
